Split-level Patio, Shrewsbury

Design Brief

The client had a compact slabbed patio and a raised lawn area leading to a garage. She wanted a low maintenance garden with an enlarged area of patio for outdoor entertaining.

The raised lawn was removed and the area excavated and a retaining brick wall built. The 600mm slabs were replaced by Yorkstone flags, laid in a mortar bed at a diagonal of 45 degrees to maximise the feeling of width. Gravel beds were laid either sie of the path leading to the garage.

...and the finished patio.
